The Raila Odinga-led party has responded to reports that there were plans to form an alliance with President Ruto-led UDA party.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has denied reports that there were plans to form an alliance with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement on Wednesday, August 28, the Raila Odinga-led party maintained that it was solid as it was built on a strong foundation.

The orange party added that any word on the streets should remain on the streets.

"ODM is built on a strong foundation. It is solid, and its pillars can be felt across the country. Therefore, any word on the street should only remain on streets," the party stated.

This comes after a local daily claimed there was talk on the streets of a plan for the party to merge with the ruling party ahead of the polls.

ODM deputy leader Simba Arati.

Speaking in Kakamega County on Saturday, August 24, ODM deputy leader Simba Arati reiterated that the party had not entered into any pact with the UDA party.

The Kisii Governor, however, sensationally made a call to President William Ruto to join the ODM party should UDA members frustrate him. 

"I want to say here openly that ODM has not agreed to any pact with UDA. What we did was giving out our members to help the president move the government forward. Those from ODM that joined the government, don't joke with the work. I ask to work until the president sees that ODM is a good party

"Mr. President, if the UDA members frustrate you, I want to assure you as the ODM deputy party leader that I will call you, we come and sit down, then see if we can go together in 2027," Arati remarked.
