Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is back on Facebook and Twitter platforms after deactivating his accounts three years ago.

In posts seen by Nairobileo.co.ke on Monday, November 28, the retired Head of State posted photos of his meeting during the DRC peace talks in Nairobi.

On Twitter, Uhuru is using the user name "Office of the 3rd Retired President of Kenya" and the handle "@4thPresidentKE."

The new account had already gained more than 6,000 followers by the time of publishing this story, and it regulated which users can comment on posts.

The former president in 2019 was using a verified account with the username "Uhuru Kenyatta" and the handle "@UKenyatta" which had over three million followers before it was deactivated.

The then State House Chief of Staff Waita Nzioka said that Uhuru's accounts had been suspended after unauthorized access to the accounts, and the suspension was to allow for remedial measures.

However, Kenyatta would later confirm that he left Twitter because of constant abuses on the platform.

“Mimi sio mtu wa hiyo (social media). Ata Twitter niliondoka huko nikaona hii kitu ni bure ni matusi tu hakuna kitu inaendelea huko. Unakaa hapo unasoma, hulali. Afadhali nipige story na mama, nilale, niamke, niende kazi na dunia iendelee,” Kenyatta said.
