The Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) has hit out at President William Ruto after he claimed that he was not aware of any Kenyan kidnapped during the recent anti-government protests.
In a statement on Friday, August 30, KHRC claimed that President Ruto was being dishonest at it published posters of people reported to be missing.
"President William Ruto's claim that he's unaware of any Kenyan forcibly disappeared by security agents during anti-government protests is a blatant lie," KHRC stated.
At the same time, the commission published the names of those reportedly kidnapped and killed during the protests.
KHRC maintained that the Head of State should be held accountable for Kenyans who have been reported missing.

"On this International Day of the Disappeared, President Ruto must be held accountable for these enforced disappearances that happened under his command," KHRC remarked.
Speaking during a town hall session in Kisumu on Thursday, August 29, President Ruto asserted that he did not have a single name of a Kenyan kidnapped during the recent protests.
The Head of State urged families whose relatives have reportedly gone missing to come forward and provide the names so that he can take action.
“If there is a family that their child or friend or relative went to a demonstration, whether it is last year or this year, and never came back, I want to know the names because I will take firm and decisive action. Because as I talk to you today, I don’t have a single name of somebody who has been abducted or disappeared," Ruto remarked.
The president maintained that Kenyans have a right of association within the law and therefore no one should be subjected to any inhumane treatment because of their political persuasion.
