Duale opined that Kenyans were gaining trust in the institution owing to its recent predictions.

Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has challenged the Kenya Meteorological Department to provide accurate and timely weather forecasts.

Speaking to Kenya Met employees during a visit to their offices on Wednesday, September 11, the CS emphasised the importance of weather predictions for Kenyans and various sectors of the economy.

For instance, he cited that the Ministry of Agriculture relied on weather predictions to plan various farming activities in the country.

Therefore, Duale called upon the department to capitalise on technology and prepare Kenyans for accurate weather patterns in advance.

"This institution is critical. Not only to Kenya but to the entire world. Aviation experts depend on your information. The Ministry of Agriculture use your information to plan Kenya's food security," the CS stated.

Meanwhile, he also opined that Kenyans were gaining trust in the institution owing to its recent predictions that have been accurate.

On the other hand, the CS revealed that his ministry would continue supporting the department through the acquisition of the latest technology and equipment.

Kenya Met has intensified its communication on anticipated weather patterns in recent months owing to the global concerns of climate change.

Some of the forecasts are usually released on a five-day, seven-day, monthly and seasonal basis.

In September, Kenya Met predicted sunny and dry weather conditions in most parts of the country.

However, some areas like the Lake Victoria Basin and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley will receive some rainfall during the month.
