President William Ruto was on Thursday, September 12 awarded the Golden Plate Award from the Academy of Achievement.
The Head of State was presented with the prestigious award during the launch of Kenya’s 5th National Action Plan in Nairobi.
Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei handed over the award to President Ruto on behalf of the Academy of Achievement.
According to State House, the Golden Plate Award marks a significant recognition of President Ruto’s leadership and contribution to governance and development in Kenya.
The American Academy of Achievement is a nonprofit foundation that recognizes extraordinary individuals in public service, science and exploration, the arts, and business.

In December 2022, President Ruto was also inducted into the American Academy of Achievement at a Golden Plate Award Ceremony held in Washington DC.
The president joins Former US President Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush, Gerald Rudolph Ford Jr, and Neil Armstrong who have been feted with the Golden Plate Award.
Other prominent people who have received the award are Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The award comes months after President Ruto was honored with Ghana’s highest award, The Companion of the Order of the Star of the Volta.
He was given the award by President Nana Akufo-Addo during an official visit to Ghana on April 3, 2024.
President Ruto was also given the Outstanding Leaders Award by the American Chamber of Commerce in May 2024 during his State visit to the USA.
