A fight between students at Dagoretti High School has resulted in 11 injuries.

At least 11 students have been injured after a fight broke out at Dagoretti High School in Nairobi on Sunday night, September 15.

Following the incident, police were deployed to restore order and the injured students were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The fight erupted after a clash between students during a basketball match escalated into a full-blown melee.

Students destroyed property at the school after the unrest.

Dagoretti South Member of Parliament John Kiare confirmed the incident, disclosing that considerable damage had been done at the school.

The lawmaker confirmed that, despite the unrest and property damage, there are no fatalities reported, nor are there any instances of burning on the school premises.

"The incident at Dagoretti High School has caused considerable damage as the boys went on a rampage at night. Thankfully, even with the cases of injuries that are being attended to, there are no fatalities or burning," Kiare remarked.

Kiare added that all necessary procedures have been activated even as he called for factual reporting of the incident.

"All necessary actions and procedures forward have been activated. Knowing, from previous experience, the contagious nature of such incidents, it is to call for reasoned, restrained and factual reporting and communication of the incident," Kiare stated.

The school has since been closed indefinitely following the unrest.
