Hillside Endarasha Academy owner David Kinyua has announced that he will effect several changes in the school following the fire tragedy that claimed the lives of 21 students.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, September 17, Kinyua revealed that the school administration had resolved to reduce the number of students who will be boarders. Only 195 learners will be boarders from the previous 330.
He explained that the change had been informed by the strained number of facilities in the institution that had been occasioned by the fire.
Consequently, the school owner stated that students who come from the area would be day schoolers as students who come from other regions are prioritised for boarding.

On the other hand, he detailed that the boy's boarding facility was being shifted to another location. The move is aimed at protecting students who could face trauma from going to the area that was affected by the fire.
"We were permitted to begin repairs on Saturday and we are doing our best to meet the timelines. We have removed the dorm from where it was," Kinyua stated.
"Additionally, we have created a new path so that the boys cannot be affected by trauma when they pass where the dormitory was."
Students are expected to report back to the institution in the coming days as investigations into the fire tragedy continue.
Notably, Kinyua also revealed that some well-wishers had offered to purchase boarding items for students who were affected during the fire incident.
"We have called the parents to come on Monday. We have invited religious leaders and we shall be meeting with Red Cross officials also. We want to discuss how we shall reopen the institution," the school owner announced.
"We have planned on how the students will get everything including the mattress, box, and shoes. The students will be returning to school without anything, just as they left the school," he added.
