A JKIA court has ordered two foreign nationals to pay a fine of Ksh30 million each after being found guilty of drug trafficking.
In a statement by the DCI on Thursday, September 19, it noted that the duo was sentenced owing to their involvement in the illicit trade within Nairobi County.
The two plead guilty to being in possession of heroin and marijuana.
Further, the court directed that the duo serve a one-year jail term should they fail to pay the Ksh60 million fine.

"The arrest of the two convicts on March 13, 2024, emanated from an intelligence-led operation where they were nabbed at Nyamakima area by a team of detectives drawn from the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit augmented by their Anti-Narcotics Unit counterparts," read the statement in part.
"Upon arrest, the duo led the detectives to their places of abode at Umoja and Sunton where they were found with 39.04 gms of heroin and 25.71 gms of cannabis."
Additionally, the foreigners are expected to be repatriated to their country of origin once they complete their sentence and fine.
The drugs recovered during the arrest of the convicts will be destroyed as directed by the court.
Meanwhile, the DCI urged Kenyans to be on high alert for drug traffickers adding that its officers had intensified its efforts to bring the criminals to book.
In the last few months, several Kenyans and foreign nationals have been arrested for having drugs such as marijuana, cocaine and heroin.
