Lawyer and activist Morara Kebaso has been charged with cyber harassment contrary to Section 27 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act 2018.
According to the charge sheet drafted on Tuesday, October 1, the lawyer is accused of tarnishing and discrediting the reputation of businessman David Langat.
The charge sheet pointed out that Kebaso shared false information on his X account on September 28, 2024, with intentions on tarnishing the billionaire's reputation.
"William Ruto approached DL Langat and told him he desperately needed more money for the campaign. DL Langat used his properties as security and took big loans to help his friend. Right now DL Langat is being auctioned by banks and the person buying the properties is William Ruto.
"To make it worse, William Ruto has used his power to undervalue the properties to buy them at a cheaper price. That is the kind of person you're dealing with. He has no friend," Kebaso was quoted in the charge sheet.

As earlier reported, Kebaso's security officer shared fresh details regarding the activist's arrest on Monday, September 30, at his Kahawa Sukari office in Nairobi.
Speaking while addressing journalists at the Regional Police Headquarters, Kebaso's security officer, who only identified himself as Geoffrey, said the activist was arrested by six masked men.
Geoffrey said only one man, claiming to be a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer, identified himself by flashing a DCI identity card.
"Once I opened the gate, they proceeded to the office where they handcuffed Morara Kebaso and took his phones, an iPhone and a Samsung phone, and his laptop," he said.
According to Geoffrey, Kebaso was then bundled into a car, registration number KCQ 166J, and driven to the Regional Police Headquarters.
Kebaso was presented at Milimani Law Courts on Tuesday morning.
