President William Ruto has appointed Munyori Buku as the new head of the Presidential Communication Service (PSC).
In the announcement made by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed on Wednesday, October 9, it was revealed that Buku worked as the Secretary for Public Communication at State House.
The PSC is the communication unit that handles the communication of the President including taking videos and photos.
Mohamed explained that Ruto's latest appointment was informed by Buku's vast experience in strategic communication having worked in public and private sectors.

"President William Ruto has appointed Munyori Buku as the new Head of the Presidential Communication Service. Mr. Buku brings over 26 years of senior-level experience in strategic communication within both the public and private sectors," read the statement in part.
"Other notable roles he has held include Senior Director of Public Communication at State House, Director of Communication in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Finance, and Editorial Manager at the Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board."
As a journalist, Buku has worked in reputable media houses in the country including the Nation Media Group (NMG) where he served as Sub-Editor.
He also worked as an editor at the Standard Group.
"His career began in education, where he worked as a teacher in several high schools across Kenya before transitioning to media and communications," Mohamed noted in his press release.
Regarding his educational background, the communication expert holds a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Education (Arts) from Kenyatta University.
At PSC, Buku will be replacing David Mugonyi who was appointed as the Director General of the Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) in 2023.
