Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's office has denied reports of a planned press conference scheduled for Tuesday, October 15.

In a statement on her X account, Njeri Rugene who heads Deputy Presidential Communication Service (DPCS) flagged the poster making rounds on social media as fake.

She urged Kenyans to ignore the letter as it did not emanate from the office of the DP.

According to the fake poster, the DP was to address the nation on Tuesday at 7 PM.

Authors of the fake media invite had also alleged that the presser was to be held at the official residence of the DP in Karen, Nairobi.

Notably, the main agenda for the presser was not revealed in the invite.

In recent days, the DP has held several pressers to defend himself following the ongoing impeachment process.

The DP has been accused of undermining government policies, gross misconduct and propagating division among Kenyans through talks on shareholding in government.

Gachagua has denied all charges listed in the impeachment motion that was passed in the National Assembly last week.

Meanwhile, the impeachment hearing against the DP in the Senate is set to commence on Wednesday, October 16 and will be completed on Thursday, October 17.
