Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has stated that Uhuru Park cannot be reserved for an event on a public holiday amidst a planned rally by Eric Omondi.

"Other Kenyans will also want to enjoy it. It can be reserved on any other day. Kujeni tu mmoja mmoja mjae hakuna haja ya kuomba."

The remarks by the governor came amidst a planned parallel Mashujaa Day event by comedian Eric Omondi.

According to the comedian, the event was to honour Kenyans who have died over the years while defending the rights of Kenyans.

"Calling upon Kenyans from all corners of this Nation to Join us as we Celebrate our fallen heroes at Uhuru Park this Sunday 20th," the comedian announced on his social media pages.

"Every generation has its heroes and these are ours. Carry a flag and a candle. The program starts at 9 AM.
