The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the recruitment of 20,000 teachers.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the recruitment of 20,000 teachers in Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) to support the implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).

In a notice on Tuesday, October 29, TSC noted that the teachers will be hired on an internship basis for a period of 12 months.

The commission disclosed that the intern teachers will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Ksh20,000 which will be paid subject to statutory deductions where applicable.

Qualifications

To qualify for the positions, candidates must meet the following requirements:

1. Be a Kenyan citizen.

2. Must be a holder of at least a Diploma in Education with a minimum mean grade of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in two teaching subjects in KCSE or its equivalent.

3. Must be a registered teacher with Teachers Service Commission.

“For equivalent qualifications, applicants are advised to visit the Teachers Service Commission’s website: www.tsc.go.ke,” TSC stated.

How to apply

Interested and qualified candidates are required to submit their applications online through the Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under “Careers” or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.

"Manual applications will not be considered," TSC explained.

The applications should be submitted by November 4, 2024.

TSC affirmed that the recruitment is free of charge and warned Kenyans of fraudsters who might extort them money purporting to help them in the recruitment.

"The programme targets unemployed registered teachers to be assigned to learning institutions where their teaching experience will be enhanced through mentorship, coaching and exposure to practical teaching experience.
