Kenya Railways has announced a delay in the departure of the Standard Guage Railway (SGR) train that was to leave Mombasa in the afternoon.

According to the regular plan, the train was to leave Mombasa Terminus at exactly 3:30 PM and arrive minutes before 8 PM in Nairobi.

However, due to the delays, the train will now leave Mombasa minutes past 4 PM.

"We wish to inform our customers that we are anticipating a 1 hour 40 minutes delay for the Mombasa to Nairobi afternoon Express train," read the statement in part.

"The train will depart Mombasa Terminus at 16:40 hrs."

Owing to the disruption, Kenya Railways apologised for the delays. However, KR did not reveal what had caused the delays.

"The Nairobi to Mombasa afternoon Express train will operate as per the normal schedule," Kenya Railways noted in its statement.

"We apologize for any inconvenience caused. We thank you for your understanding and continued support."
