The Ministry also revealed ways Kenyans can verify the registration of doctors and facilities.

The Ministry of Health has intervened following the death of Lucy Wambui who died after undergoing a cosmetic surgery in Nairobi.

In a statement dated Friday, November 1, Public Health PS Mary Muthoni revealed that a team had been deployed to the Body by Design clinic to establish facts in the matter.

The PS explained that the probe team would be tasked with establishing the safety and professional standards observed during the procedure.

Should the probe team establish acts of negligence, the Ministry revealed that action would be taken against all those involved.

"An investigation has been initiated by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council to thoroughly examine the circumstances leading to this incident," read the statement in part.

"A team has been dispatched to the facility to conduct a fact-finding mission aimed at assessing whether the necessary professional standards were met in Lucy's care. Any evidence of malpractice or deviation from established norms will be addressed with appropriate action, in line with applicable laws."

On the other hand, the Ministry warned Kenyans to be wary of medical facilities that offer such procedures.

Kenyans were advised to always authenticate the credentials of the facilities and the doctors before undergoing such procedures.

"Robust frameworks are in place to regulate healthcare services, uphold ethical standards, protect consumers, and foster public trust in health services," the PS added.

"To safeguard public health, we encourage citizens to verify the credentials of healthcare providers and facilities. Please confirm the status of medical practitioners by sending a free SMS to 20547 using the format: P#Doctor's Name, or to check a hospital, H#Hospital Name."
