The National Assembly Regional Development Committee has summoned Immigration PS Julius Bitok to appear before its members.
Following a meeting held on Tuesday, November 5, it was resolved that the PS be summoned after failing to appear before the committee five times.
Led by the Committee chairperson Peter Lochakapong (Sigor), the lawmakers called out the PS over his absence warning of more serious action.
"This is a serious concern. The PS has been invited several times and has declined to appear before this Committee," the chair stated.

"As a result, we have no choice but to issue a formal summon for him to appear and address critical issues regarding refugee affairs in the country,”
According to the MPs, the actions of the CS were hindering the committee from performing its oversight functions effectively.
The PS was to appear before the MPs to respond to questions regarding the admission, operations and management of refugees in Kenya.
Consequently, some members of the committee threatened to initiate a censure motion against the PS.
“Chairman and fellow members, the PS’s failure to appear before this Committee five times is unacceptable and must not be allowed to continue,” Maragua MP Mary Wamaua argued.
“This issue should be treated with the utmost seriousness. I urge the legal counsel to advise us on the appropriate course of action."
The PS has yet to explain why he failed to meet the committee during the Tuesday meeting.
