Justice Muchelule was appointed Judge of the Court of Appeal in 2022. 

Court of Appeal Judge Aggrey Muchelule has been elected as the Principle Judge of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Court of Justice.

Justice Muchelule was elected on Thursday, November 21, during the 27th Meeting of Attorneys General and Ministers of Justice in Lusaka, Zambia.

The news of his appointment was confirmed by Attorney General Dorcas Oduor, who congratulated him for the new role.

“The Honorable Attorney General, Ms. Dorcas Agik Oduor, would like to extend her heartfelt congratulations to His Lordship on this distinguished appointment and wishes him all the best during his five-year tenure of service,” Oduor remarked.

At the same time, Chief Justice Martha Koome congratulated Justice Muchelule on his election as the Principle Judge of the COMESA Court of Justice.

Koome said the elction was a testament to Justice Muchelule's exceptional qualifications as well as the trust and confidence placed in Kenyan judges.

"On behalf of the Judiciary and on my own behalf, I congratulate Hon. Justice Aggrey Muchelule, Judge of the Court of Appeal, on his well-deserved election as the Principal Judge of the COMESA Court of Justice. This remarkable achievement is a testament to his exceptional qualifications and dedication to the rule of law.

"Justice Muchelule's election affirms the trust and confidence placed in Kenyan judges to contribute to the advancement of regional and international justice systems," Koome stated.

Justice Muchelule was appointed judge of the Court of Appeal in 2022, and prior to his appointment, he was the presiding judge of the Family Division at Milimani High Court.

He holds a Master of Laws from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Laws from the same institution and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
