The Ministry of Education has unveiled the 2025 academic term dates for schools across the country.
The calendar shared with the public on Thursday, November 28, outlines the term durations, holiday breaks, and national examination dates.
Key dates for the 2025 are as follows;
Term 1: Opens on 6th January 2025 and runs for 13 weeks, ending on 4th April 2025. A mid-term break is scheduled from 26th February to 2nd March 2025, lasting five days.
April holiday: A three-week holiday will follow Term 1, from 7th April to 25th April 2025.

Term 2: Commences on 28th April 2025 and spans 14 weeks, concluding on 1st August 2025. Students will enjoy a five-day half-term from 25th June to 29th June 2025.
August holiday: Schools will close for three weeks, from 4th August to 22nd August 2025.
Term 3: Begins on 25th August 2025 and lasts for nine weeks, ending on 24th October 2025.
December holiday: The academic year will officially end on 27th October 2025 for most learners, ushering in a 10-week December holiday running until 2nd January 2026.
National examination schedule
The 2025 calendar also highlights crucial dates for national assessments.
Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will run from 27th to 30th October 2025 while the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) will commence on 27th and end on 31st of October 2025.
Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) & Kenya Pre-Vocational Level Education Assessment (KPLEA) will begin on 27th October and run through to 6th November 2025.
On the other hand, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will start on 3rd November and end on 21st November 2025.
