The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a 37-day traffic disruption along Waiyaki Way.

A notice issued on Friday, December 6, states that the disruption will be caused by the planned construction works of a bridge at Kangemi.

The construction work will be done in two phases affecting the section of the road leading to Nairobi and Nakuru.

For instance, between Wednesday, December 11 and Monday, December 26, the road section used by Nairobi-bound vehicles will be closed with a diversion created to allow the vehicles to use the adjustment lanes.

"Phase I: Nairobi bound traffic (LHS) will first be diverted to the (RHS) from Wednesday, December 11, 2024, to Monday, December 26, 2024," read the notice in part.

"Phase II: Nakuru/Rironi bound traffic (RHS) will be diverted to the (LHS) from Saturday, December 28, 2024, to Friday, January 17, 2025."

Therefore, motorists were advised to cooperate with traffic marshalls and police deployed along the road for 37 days.

On the other hand, the road agency also announced another traffic disruption along the Southern Bypass.

"KeNHA would like to notify the public of the temporary partial closure of the Nairobi-bound carriageway on A8 Road between FUSO (Simba Colt) and the Southern Bypass Interchange (Ole Sereni) for seven (7) days, from Friday, December 6, 202,4 at 10 pm to Friday, December 13, 2024, to facilitate essential highway maintenance works along this section," KenHA added.

"During this period of road closure, heavy vehicles of gross weight greater than 3.5 tones and other motorists heading to Southern Bypass will be diverted to exit the main highway at Kyang'ombe Slip Road through Old Mombasa Road while other vehicles will use a single lane that will be provided along the affected section."
