The two vehicles collided head-on on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

At least seven people have been injured following a road accident in Soweto area along the Kinungi black spot in Nakuru County.

Confirming the incident on Tuesday, December 10, St. John Ambulance stated that the accident involved a van and lorry which collided head-on resulting in the injuries.

The organization disclosed that it has dispatched its responders to the scene and that traffic police officers were on site.

"7 passengers have this morning been injured after their van (Noah) collided head on with a Lorry at Soweto area along the Kinungi blackspot, Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

"St. John first responders from Kinungi Highway Community First Aid Post have attended to the injured on site and handed them over to Nakuru County Ambulance team for transfer to Naivasha Hospital. Traffic police are currently clearing traffic," St. Johns Ambulance stated.

In photos and videos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, the van had been pushed to the side of the road, while the lorry remained on one lane with its front end damaged.

The incident resulted in a traffic snarl up along the section of the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

The incident comes after Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi recently ordered all traffic officers to ensure Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) are roadworthy and driven safely ahead of the festive season.

Mudavadi urged all road users to exercise caution ahead of the festive season so as to avoid tragedy on the road.
