Duale announced that the staff will be deployed to the Ministry and its agencies based on competencies.

Environment CS Aden Duale has announced the dissolution of the Kenya Water Towers Agency (KWTA).

In a statement dated Friday, December 13, the CS indicated that the agency had ceased to exist following the move of the government to reduce the number of state corporations.

Duale, further, explained that the agency had overlapping roles with other agencies, hence the need to dissolve it.

"In the environment sector, KWTA's role overlapped with the mandates of institutions such as Kenya Forest Service (KFS), Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) and the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA)," read the statement in part.

"Consequently, I have today directed the two Principal Secretaries for Environment and Climate Change, and Forestry to accelerate the ongoing audit of KWTA's assets and liabilities including staff complement."

On the other hand, he announced that the institution's directors and management had already been redeployed to other agencies.

All staff of KWTA will also deployed to the Ministry and its agencies based on competencies.

Among notable personalities who have already been redeployed include Rashid Echesa who served as the board chairperson.

In November, Echesa was appointed by President William Ruto as the chairperson of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health.
