Police in Kapsabet have arrested former Kisumu nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Carren Atieno Muga in connection with a suspected organ harvesting operation tied to the gruesome murder of Enock Kipsang.
In a statement on Sunday, January 5, the National Police Service said the victim was found beheaded, with his private parts mutilated.
According to NPS, Muga, who is also the mother of one of the prime suspects in the case, was apprehended along the Chemelil-Miwani-Kisumu road while allegedly attempting to flee her residence.
"She was arrested along Chemelil-Miwani-Kisumu road in a suspected organ harvesting case as she was fleeing her residence for fear of being lynched by agitated members of the public, and her motor vehicle make Toyota Harrier detained as exhibit at Kapsabet Police Station," NPS said.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Tinderet is leading the probe, with efforts underway to apprehend other suspects linked to the heinous crime.

Meanwhile, NPS noted that police have successfully recovered items stolen during a violent attack on Chemase Police Post earlier this week.
The attack, which occurred on January 2, 2025, saw irate members of the public storm the station, killing a murder suspect and setting a police vehicle ablaze.
NPS confirmed the recovery of the stolen items during a patrol at Chepswerta Market.
"Following the attack at Chemase Police Post in Nandi County this week, Police in Chemase today 04/01/2025 while on patrol at Chepswerta Market recovered from a tractor Reg. No. KSW 364 make FORD, the National and Kenya Police Service flags that were stolen when irate members of public invaded the Chemase Police Post on January 2, 2025," NPS stated.
The attack unfolded after residents invaded the police post, burning a murder suspect, Victor Kimtai, to death.
Kimtai had been in custody for undisclosed charges.
In addition, the mob destroyed a police Ford Ranger vehicle belonging to Potopoto Police Station.
