Mutahi Kagwe, William Kabogo, and Lee Kinyanjui have been sworn-in as Cabinet Secretaries for Agriculture & Livestock, ICT and Digital Economy, and Investment, Trade and Industry respectively.

The three were sworn-in on Friday, January 17, in an event witnessed by President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

Speaking during the event, Ruto expressed confidence in the appointees, citing their extensive experience in various facets of public service.

“Without exception, all three of the new cabinet secretaries have extensive and diverse experience in both the executive and legislative facets of the public service. For this reason, I am confident in the skills and capabilities they bring to their roles,” he noted.

Ruto highlighted his long-standing professional relationships with the appointees, recalling their time in Parliament.

“I served with Hon. Kabogo and Hon. Kagwe in the National Assembly when they were elected to the 9th Parliament, and Hon. Kinyanjui later joined the Legislature in the 10th Parliament,” he said.

Ruto also underscored the leadership credentials of the new cabinet secretaries, pointing to their significant contributions in devolved governments, Parliament, and national parastatals.

“Both Kinyanjui and Kabogo have served as chief executives of devolved governments, while Hon. Kagwe has served in the Senate and was a cabinet member in two previous administrations. Both Hon. Kagwe and Hon. Kinyanjui have also chaired the boards of strategic national parastatals,” he added.

Ruto charged the new cabinet secretaries with a clear mandate: to serve the people of Kenya with integrity, competence, and dedication.

“I urge you to live up to the oath you have just taken, every day: to obey, respect, and uphold the Constitution and all laws; to serve the people with honour and dignity; and to hold your office with the highest integrity.

"For my part, I pledge to provide you with all the support, encouragement, and resources you need to excel in your duties and deliver for the people of Kenya,” he said.
