The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the opening of the application portal for Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and the TVET institutions across the country.

In a notice dated Friday, January 24, KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome announced that they were targeting students who sat for their KCSE examinations in 2024.

This was done in advance to enable the students to enrol at the institutions for the March intakes.

Meanwhile, the application portal for universities and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) will be open at a later date, yet to be announced.

"Universities and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) normally have their intakes later in the year while KMTC and TVETs admit theirs in January. March and May, hence the need to have a phased application process to enable students to transition to colleges promptly," Wahome explained.

How to Apply

Students whose grades enable them to apply for the courses were advised to visit the placement portal - https://students.kuccps.net/ for information on the available programmes and institutions.

"Noting that KMTC recently increased opportunities in Community Health programmes and introduced a Diploma in Health Insurance Management to provide skilled workers for the Universal Health Care programme, and a Diploma in Mortuary Science to provide professionally trained morticians, she encouraged students to apply for the courses," read the notice in part.

Students were also encouraged to pick institutions that are closer to their homes as it will save money.

The portal will remain open for 21 days and will be closed on February 14, 2025.

"Form Four leavers who sat the KCSE examination from the year 2000 to 2024 are eligible to apply for the slots. Applications for degree programmes and TTCs will follow thereafter at dates that will be announced," KUCCPS added.

"Candidates who will re-sit their KCSE examination this year will have an opportunity to apply for KMTC and TVET programmes, using their improved grades, for the September intake."
