Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has issued a warning about the future of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), suggesting that the party could split into two factions.
Speaking in Kakamega on Sunday, February 9, Amisi expressed concerns about the party’s direction in light of Raila Odinga’s deal to work with President William Ruto.
“I would like to say, when Raila Odinga is done with the African Union, we will meet again so that the party leaders explain to us if we are in the government or not. If you fail to do that, you're going to end up with two ODMs; one in government and one in opposition," he said.
Amisi went on to warn the party leadership against mismanagement, adding that such a split would result in a betrayal of the legacy of Raila.
“You will have done a disservice to the many years Raila has fought for this party. If you spoil this party, you will have spoiled the work of Raila Odinga for many years," he concluded.

Amisi's remarks come barely a month after ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna challenged party members who support Ruto to leave ODM and join Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Speaking on January 26, Sifuna accused these members of betraying the party's values by acting as Ruto's mouthpiece and supporting the government instead of fulfilling their opposition role.
He emphasized that ODM's mandate is to advocate for Kenyans as the opposition and criticized members who defend the government.
"For those who feel they are tired of defending Kenyans, just leave the party and join UDA once and for all to be with Ruto. Why would you pretend to like a President who is affiliated with another party and forget you are a member of another party? If you are tired of ODM, go to Ruto's party," he said.
Sifuna reiterated that he will continue to uphold ODM's principles and hold the government accountable.
"I will continue standing on the side of the truth. If something is wrong, I will call it out as it is. Those feeling like they are tired of defending Kenyans can leave the party and join UDA at once so they can stay there with Ruto," he added.
