Kenya Primary Schools Heads Association (KEPSHA) national chairman Johnson Nzioka is dead.
Nzioka passed away on Sunday, February 16 after being involved in a grisly road accident in Athi River along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
Preliminary reports indicate that Nzioka’s vehicle rammed into a trailer as he swerved to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming car.
The KEPSHA chairman died on the spot and his body was moved to the morgue pending autopsy.
Besides his role at KEPSHA, Nzioka served as the Headteacher of Donholm Primary School and as a Council member at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Collins Oyuu in a statement mourned Nzioka as an outstanding leader who played a significant role in redefining KEPSHA’s leadership.
“Brother Nzioka was an exemplary outstanding leader with very distinct diplomatic leadership skills that helped redefine the KEPSHA leadership to a world-class teachers association at a time when Education management in the country was undergoing strategic reforms,” said Oyuu.
The KNUT Secretary-General noted that Nzioka stood out to be a great mobilizer for head teachers’ activities and a negotiator for their welfare during his short stint at the helm of KEPSHA.
“Mr. Nzioka has been a regular contributor to teachers’ well-being generally. He will be remembered for his soft but forthright speaking especially while brokering peace among his members,” Oyuu added.
Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino also sent his condolences to Nzioka’s family following the tragic accident.
“I wish to express my sincere condolences to the Family of Mr. Johnson Nzioka; Headteacher of Donholm Primary School whose car rammed into a trailer along Mombasa Road. Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Rest in Peace my friend,” Babu stated.
