The massive fire erupted around 9 PM near Pettans Technical College in Kiambu Town. 

Property of unknown value was on Sunday, February 16 night destroyed after a fire broke out in Kiambu Town. 

The massive inferno, which erupted around 9 PM near Pettans Technical College, quickly spread to a residential building.

In a statement, Kenya Red Cross said emergency response teams were deployed to the scene to contain the massive fire.

“Emergency response teams are battling a fire that broke out near Pettans Technical College in Kiambu. The Kenya Red Cross Action Team, Kenya Police and the County Fire Brigade are on the ground, working to contain it,” Kenya Red Cross stated.

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi also confirmed that the county deployed the disaster management unit to help put out the fire.

Videos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke showed a massive fire with thick smoke billowing from the building.

The fire was eventually contained after additional response teams from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and Nairobi County were deployed. 



The fire incident comes barely a week after a gas explosion ravaged Mwimuto in Kiambu County, burning down 21 houses and 12 shops.

The fire has left dozens of residents homeless and business owners counting heavy losses.

According to witnesses who spoke to the media, the fire spread rapidly, making it difficult to salvage property.
