Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma has threatened to kick start an impeachment motion against Transport CS James Macharia.
The lawmaker is going after Macharia over three controversial appointments to the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority board.
Kaluma said the appointments by Macharia reeked of tribalism and threatened to sponsor an impeachment motion against the CS.
CS Macharia appointed Mary Waithiegeni Chege, Zachariah Karenge Mungai, and Ronald Ndirangu Ndegwa as members of the city's transport authority board for a period of three years.
Kaluma's statement
"This is a stinking tribalism in a country where inclusivity is a constitutional ideal. A Minister who makes such appointments should be nowhere around public service. @StateHouseKenya I will bring a motion to remove James Macharia from office if he is not sacked!," Kaluma said.
The gazette notice on the appointment which was dated February 7, 2021, surfaced online on Friday, February 26, ushering backlash from Kenyans.
In 2020 there were calls to impeach Macharia following a petition signed by 90 MPs who accused the CS of overseeing stalled government projects worth Ksh100 billion and being part of the Afya House scandal that saw taxpayers lose Ksh5.2 billion in 2016 when he was in charge of the Health docket.
