Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has been released after being arraigned in a Kiambu court following his arrest on Tuesday, February 18.
Koimburi was arraigned in court on Wednesday, February 19, and charged with multiple counts related to forging academic certificates.
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the MP faced three charges of forging academic certificates and three others for presenting false documents.
Prosecuting Counsel, Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Everlyn Onunga, told the court that between November and December 1994, Koimburi allegedly forged a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate, purporting it to be a genuine document issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).

"Court heard that the accused person knowingly and fraudulently uttered the said certificates on the 8th of March 2021 at the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) offices," ODPP said.
Koimburi pleaded not guilty to all charges before Magistrate Mwanamkuu Mwakwambirwa and was released on a Ksh 200,000 cash bail as the case proceeds.
Additionally, the court is also set to rule on Thursday, February 20 whether Koimburi will face an additional charge for failing to attend a previous court session, as sought by the prosecution.
The MP was first charged with forging academic certificates on April 26, 2021, and was released on a Ksh 100,000 bond.
However, after failing to appear in court, a warrant for his arrest was issued on September 16, 2021, leading to the forfeiture of his cash bail.
