The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has flagged online reports on the retirement of its CEO Nancy Macharia.

Through its official social media account on Friday, February 27, TSC stated that the reports were fake.

Kenyans were, therefore, advised to disregard the reports and avoid sharing the information that was circulating on social media.

According to the fake reports, Macharia had been replaced following her retirement.

Macharia has been at the helm of TSC since 2015. She took over from Gabriel Lengoiboni who retired in June that year.

As the CEO, Macharia is tasked with the day-to-day running of the Commission which is one of the largest government employers.

The commission is tasked with the recruitment, deployment and promotion of teachers.

TSC also undertakes disciplinary action on teachers and can deregister teachers found guilty of misconduct.

"She holds a Master of Education (Policy and Management) degree from Bristol University, UK and a Bachelor of Education degree in English/Literature from Kenyatta University," reads part of her profile.
