The Mob Justice Incident
According to the last moments unearthed during the police investigations, Munene had met with a friend - Keith Chacha - after leaving work.
The duo then headed to downtown to purchase a phone cover. While running their errands, they encountered police who arrested them.
It is reported that Munene fled from the police. However, bodaboda riders near Kirinyaga and Charles Rubia Road nabbed him thinking that he was a thief before being subjected to mob justice.
"It was around 6 pm. They were around 4 men and they looked to be friends as they headed downtown. At that moment, I left to go and run some errands. When I came back, I found the guy had been beaten," Charles Kamende, a boda rider revealed to Citizen TV.
"There was a phone-snatching incident downtown and people caught up with him as he was running. People beat him up and the police came and stopped the incident. An ambulance then came and took him," Edward Mwangi, an eyewitness stated.
Police are still undertaking investigations to establish the events surrounding the incident. Police are expected to question Chacha to shed more light on the incident.
