Ministry of Education has announced vacancies for chairpersons and members of university councils across public universities in the country.

In an advert dated Tuesday, February 25, the Ministry highlighted various requirements needed during the application.

Chairperson

Those hoping to be chairpersons of university councils must hold a PhD from a recognised institution.

"The candidate for the position of Chairperson should have proven experience in leadership and management and satisfy Chapter Six of the Constitution," read the advert in part.

Council Members

Kenyans with a Masters Degree from a recognised university were urged to apply for the positions.

Similar to the requirement of the chairperson, the applicants need to have experience in leadership.

Those interested in the opportunities were advised to ensure that they have relevant documentation should they be shortlisted.

The documents that will be required during the interviews include Curriculum Vitae, ID card, academic certificates and CUE recognition/equation certificate for degrees, diplomas and certificates awarded by foreign universities and institutions.

A certificate of good conduct, EACC clearance, HELB clearance, KRA compliance certificate; and clearance from a reputable credit referencing bureau will also be required for the shortlisted candidates who will be successful in getting the jobs.

"The identification and selection of Council Chairpersons and Members shall take into consideration the skills mix and experience necessary to provide policy, technical and operational guidance to the universities. The Ministry shall place successful applicants to serve in any university within the Republic of Kenya; diversity in skills, regional and gender balance will be critical for placement.

"Applicants should not be public servants or active members of any university faculty (both public and private). Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted." read the advert in part.

The application must consist of a letter indicating the position applied for, a copy of your CV and an ID/passport.
