Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has revealed that police arrested some officials from Nairobi County after garbage was dumped at the Stima Plaza gate.

Speaking at DCI Headquarters on Thursday, February 27, the CS detailed that the arrests were made on the same day the garbage was dumped at the gate following a complaint by Kenya Power.

He added that some of the county trucks had also been impounded as investigations into the incident continue.

"The county Government of Nairobi has the responsibility of keeping everyone in Nairobi Safe. They also have a responsibility of public health. That was totally uncouth," the CS condemned.

"At the very highest level, there was a report that was made by KPLC. That report led to the arrest of officers from Nairobi for questioning. Some of the lorries have also been detained."

On the other hand, he condemned the incident adding that it put Kenyans at risk.

The comments by the CS came after Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja announced that a truce had been brokered with Kenya Power.

He added that the incident was not intentional adding that there was an internal investigation into the dumping incident.

"It was unfortunate that one of the trucks tipped garbage. That was not the intention and that is why in less than 30 minutes all that garbage was collected," Sakaja remarked.

"That is not how Nairobi County operates and the action will be dealt with internally."
