The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary traffic disruption at the Kihunguro Section along the Thika Super Highway. 

In a statement on Thursday, April 10, KeNHA Director General Kung’u Ndung’u said the section will be closed from Friday, April 11, to Monday, April 14, 2025, between 11 PM and 4 AM.

Ndung'u noted that the temporary closure will allow maintenance works along the section.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption following the closure of a section of Thika Superhighway (51) Road at Kihunguro, from Friday, April 11, 2025, to Monday, April 14, 2025, between 2300hrs to 0400hrs. This is to allow for highway maintenance works along the section,” read part of the statement.

The KeNHA Director General called on motorists travelling from Nairobi to Thika and vice versa to use service lanes.

Further, he urged motorists to follow the traffic management plan and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals who will be on site.

“Motorists travelling from Nairobi to Thika and vice versa are advised to use the service lanes as indicated in the drawing or as directed by traffic marshals.

“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the traffic management plan, project road signs, and co-operate with police and traffic marshals on site,” Ndung'u added.
