President William Ruto has announced a Ksh20 million commitment towards the elevation of Ramba High School in Siaya County in honour of the late longtime bodyguard of Azimio leader Raila Odinga, George Oduor.
Ruto made the commitment while speaking during Oduor's funeral at the school's grounds on Saturday, April 12.
He was responding to an earlier request by area MP Otiende Amollo who asked the president to facilitate the upgrade of the school.
"The MP for Rarieda Otiende Amollo had asked that this school (Ramba High School) be elevated in honor of George Oduor.
"I’m committing Ksh20 million to elevate this school in honor of this great man. Amollo, next week I’ll write you a cheque for handling that business," he said.

This comes a month after Ruto accepted the request to rename a school in Trans Nzoia after Wafula Chebukati.
Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau had requested the president to sanction the expansion and development of the Sabata Secondary School, after which it could be renamed the "Wafula Chebukati Centre of Excellence."
"My request, is we have got the Sabata Secondary School. We have challenges with land. I request that we get additional land and call that school "Wafula Chebukati Centre of Excellence and put structures and infrastructure, including an ICT centre," he said.
Ruto, while addressing the mourners, pledged to take over the development of the school, after which it will be renamed after the former IEBC chairman.
"We will change its name, and I will help you build the school in honour of this patriotic servant of Kenya. I will construct 15 classes in that school and also put an ICT centre you have requested," he promised.
