The Met Department has announced that rainfall is expected to continue over several parts of the country. 

The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that rainfall is expected to continue across the country in the next seven days.

In a weather forecast on Tuesday, April 15, the Met Department noted that isolated heavy rains will be experienced in the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley, which includes Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi counties.

Other regions set to experience heavy rains include: the Lake Victoria Basin, South-eastern Lowlands, and North-eastern Kenya.

“Rainfall is expected to continue over several parts of the country. Isolated heavy rainfall events are expected over some parts of the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Lake Victoria Basin, Southeastern lowlands, and North-eastern Kenya,” read the forecast in part.

The Met Department noted that in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, mornings are likely to be cloudy, with light rains over a few places, giving way to sunny intervals.

In the afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over few places and occasionally spreading to several places.

In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley regions, the Met Department projected that morning rains are expected, giving way to sunny intervals. While showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur in the afternoon and at night.

At the same time, the weatherman said daytime maximum temperatures of above 30°C will be experienced in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya regions.

The Met Department also noted that Highlands East of the Rift Valley, Central Rift Valley, and areas around Mt. Kilimanjaro will experience minimum night time temperatures of below 10°C.

“Average night-time (minimum) temperatures will be less than 10°C in some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley and around Mt. Kilimanjaro,” the weatherman stated.
