Lawyer Willis Otieno has launched a scathing attack on Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi, accusing him of abandoning legislative duty for political showmanship.
In a statement on Wednesday, April 16, Otieno dismissed Atandi as a lawmaker more interested in optics than delivering to his constituents.
"Atandi is the perfect example of what happens when a microphone finds a man before vision does. He walks around Parliament like a proud rooster, crowing about ‘being in government,’ yet when you check his scorecard, zero bills, zero reforms, and a constituency running on promises and potholes," he said.
Otieno accused Atandi of using public development as a tool for political manipulation, adding that he prioritizes political allegiance over the welfare of his constituents.
"The man speaks like development is a bribe for obedience, not a right funded by every struggling Kenyan. He doesn’t represent the people, he reports to power.

"While others are busy legislating, he’s tweeting empty loyalty slogans like a lost intern at State House. If sycophancy was an Olympic sport, Atandi wouldn’t just win gold, he’d design the trophy. The real tragedy? Alego didn’t elect a leader. They hired a loudspeaker. And even worse, it’s stuck on replay," he added.

Otieno’s remarks come in response to a statement by Atandi, who had earlier criticized Siaya Governor James Orengo and defended his own political alignment with the current administration.
“We are in government and we are participating in creating policies for this government. I want to tell my governor, James Orengo, that Luos were not created to stay in opposition.
"I know that he has been in opposition since he was born and that there's nothing else he understands other than opposition. He is a poor manager; the county he is supposed to run is doing badly. We want to urge him to focus on running Siaya County," Atandi said.
