Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has issued a warning to job seekers, urging them to follow official channels when applying for employment opportunities within the County Government of Machakos.
In a statement on Monday, April 27, Wavinya emphasized that the county administration does not trade job opportunities and cautioned the public against falling prey to fraudsters.
"I am strongly advising job seekers to pursue the established channels of job application. The County Government of Machakos is not trading job opportunities. Do not be deceived by conmen to bribe for job opportunities in the County government," she said.
Wavinya further expressed concern over the vulnerability of job seekers, warning them against individuals seeking to exploit their desperation.
"I am cautioning everyone because I do not want any job seeker to become the target of a few unscrupulous individuals who want to take advantage of their vulnerability," she added.

Wavinya's statement comes amid increasing reports of conmen impersonating government officials and soliciting bribes from unsuspecting applicants.
For instance, in March, the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has issued a warning to job seekers and its staff about fraudsters impersonating the agency.
KFS cautioned the public about conmen who are calling individuals, falsely claiming they have been shortlisted for job vacancies within the service.
According to the agency, the fraudsters would then ask for money to secure the positions.
"Kenya Forest Service wishes to warn the public of fraudsters who are calling individuals claiming to have shortlisted them for job vacancies in the Service. These conmen then go ahead to demand money to secure the jobs," the statement said.
KFS said the scam has also extended to KFS staff, with fraudsters making calls offering promotions in exchange for cash.
"In addition, KFS staff have not been spared either, with calls made to them promising promotions in exchange for a certain amount of money. One of the numbers used by the conmen is 0752021209,” the statement continued.
KFS reiterated that all official job interviews and promotions are communicated through formal channels, and no payments are required at any stage of the process.
“All interviews for successful candidates or promotions in the case of staff are announced through official channels, and there is no money required for these processes,” the statement concluded.
