The National Police Service (NPS) has said four suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Kasipul MP Charles Were.
In a statement, on Sunday, May 4, the NPS confirmed that the arrests followed a fresh analysis of earlier leads.
The agency said the leads led to the operation that culminated in the apprehension of the suspects.
"Upon further analysis of previously obtained leads, officers from the National Police Service swiftly conducted an operation and successfully arrested four suspects who had been positively placed at the crime scene," the NPS said.
NPS also revealed that investigators recovered crucial evidence during the operation, adding that some of the suspects are believed to be members of an organised criminal gang with a history of violent activities in Nairobi.

"Investigators have also recovered crucial evidence linked to the crime, as well as to the perpetrators.
"Additionally, some of the suspects arrested are members of organised criminal gangs, such as 'Mjahidin', which has been linked to armed robberies in the Eastlands area of Nairobi," the NPS added.
While the motive behind the killing remains unclear, the NPS has assured the public that every effort is being made to deliver justice.
"NPS investigators and the technical team are working tirelessly, leveraging their expertise, to establish the motive behind the fatal shooting and to bring all those involved to justice," the NPS further stated.
On Sunday morning, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed that one suspect linked to the MP's murder had been arrested.
The suspect was arrested in Nairobi where detectives also recovered a car that the suspect and his accomplices used to escape from the scene after gunning down Were.
According to the DCI, the vehicle is reported to have been captured by security cameras along the routes that Were used before being killed.
