President William Ruto was on Sunday, May 4, hit with a shoe while addressing a public rally in Migori County.  

In a video seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, Ruto was mid-speech when the shoe could be seen flying and hitting him.

However, despite being hit by the shoe, the president continued with his speech. 

Ruto, who is in Migori for a developmental tour, attended an Interdenominational Prayer Service at Kadika Primary School in Suna East on Sunday morning.

Following the service, he made his way to Piny Oyie where he opened the Suna East Sub County Office and laid a foundation stone for Suna West Technical and Vocational College.

"We are strengthening our local administration to ensure it is fully equipped to serve the people efficiently. Also laid the foundation stone for Suna West Technical and Vocational College, which will enhance access to technical training in the region," he said 

Afterwards, Ruto headed to Kuria West where he broke ground for the 298-unit Kehancha Affordable Housing Project.

"We are implementing a transformative development agenda that will ensure that no part of our country is marginalized or left behind," he added.

The shocking incident comes in the wake of the targeted killing of Kasipul MP Charles Were. 

Were was on Wednesday evening, April 30, shot and killed by unknown assailants on a motorcycle on Ngong Road, Nairobi County.

According to the investigators, the MP left the parliament buildings at around 7 PM and was accompanied by his driver and bodyguard.

ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale immediately condemned the incident, saying, "The people of Kuria, that was uncalled for."
