President Donald Trump's administration has promised to continue supporting Kenya's mission in Haiti.
This commitment was made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a meeting with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
In a statement dated Thursday, May 8, Mudavadi revealed that he briefed the US official on the police mission, further expressing concern over violent extremism in the Caribbean nation.
Additionally, the US proposed to support Kenya's efforts in peacebuilding in the DRC.

"The meeting also reflected on recent U.S. actions addressing criminal elements destabilising Haiti. Kenya expressed its hope that ongoing global security dialogues will further support comprehensive efforts to curb violent extremist threats globally," read the statement in part.
"The United States committed to supporting these efforts in coordination with the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to foster a durable resolution to regional conflicts."
On trade, Rubio noted that the US was ready to continue engaging Kenya on trade and investment opportunities.
"On economic relations, both sides agreed on the importance of expediting negotiations on trade. Both leaders reaffirmed their readiness to partner under a renewed framework that promotes shared prosperity and sustainable investment," Mudavadi added.
Equally, in fostering relations between Kenya and the US, Rubio expressed his intent to visit Kenya.
