The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weekend weather advisory indicating that widespread rainfall is expected across many parts of the country.
According to the advisory, rainfall is expected from Friday, May 9, to Sunday, May 11, with potential for isolated heavy downpours in several regions.
Significant rain is anticipated over the highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Southeastern Lowlands, Coast and Northwestern Kenya.
Some areas along the coast and parts of the southeastern region may receive rainfall exceeding 70mm.
According to Kenya Met, intense rainfall is projected to affect parts of the coastal region, especially around Kilifi and Mombasa counties, on Friday.

At the same time, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in the western and central highlands, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Kericho, Kisumu and Kakamega counties.
By Saturday, the rains are forecast to persist in similar regions, though with slightly reduced intensity along the coast.
However, pockets of heavy rainfall remain likely in the Rift Valley and western Kenya.
Sunday shows a general decline in rainfall intensity across the country, with the coastal region seeing a reduction in heavy showers and the Rift Valley and western highlands experiencing moderate rains.
