Former Police spokesperson Charles Owino has alleged a plan by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) politicians to have Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo sacked.
Speaking on Sunday, May 11, during an interview, Owino said a section of ODM politicians in Homa Bay fear PS Omollo’s power and influence.
The head of the National Communication Centre noted that ODM politicians fear PS Omollo who is an ally of President Ruto getting into their space in the county.
“The Interior PS comes from Homa Bay, he is young, brilliant, and cool in his nature, and belongs to the President’s faction. We have the ODM fraternity who are really scared of anyone getting into their space.
“So, what is happening in Homa Bay is that fear of the unknown, and I know that currently, without supporting ODM or UDA, there is a huge interest among our brothers in ODM to have the PS fired from his position because that position is one of influence and as we move towards the 2027 elections there is that fear,” said Owino.

The former police spokesperson went ahead to say ODM politicians are just weeping over emotions and dragging PS Omollo’s name in the Homa Bay politics.
Owino highlighted that the Interior PS’s influence should not be a reason for ODM politicians to push for his removal.
“People are trying to weep emotions and trying to drag the name of the Interior PS with a simple intention to have him sacked from his position.
"They are doing that because they think the position is quite influential, but I don’t think that should be the reason because after the coming in of the broad-based government, everybody from both sides started working very well," Owino added.
