Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has announced the Third Wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Kenya.
Kagwe announced 713 new Covid-19 cases out of a sample size of 5,230 tested in the last 24 hours.
"Today's positivity rate at 14 percent which is the highest since the second phase in late November 2020. We are about to start another difficult period," the CS said.
"But having overcome the first two waves, we can also overcome this one. Let us renew our commitment to ensure we can save our loved ones," he stated.
CS Kagwe said 12 people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, pushing Kenya's cumulative fatalities to 1,898.

Isolation and Vaccine
167 patients have recovered from the disease, 52 from various health facilities while 115 are from the Home-Based and Isolation Care.
A total of 563 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 1,588 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
The number of patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has risen to 89; 28 of whom are on supplemental oxygen.
On issues vaccine, Kagwe said "Preliminary data from phase 3 clinical trials suggest that Covid-19 vaccines are safe and effective. We are deploying Covid vaccines in a transparent, accountable manner."
