The Kenya Meteorological Department has projected that rainfall is expected to continue across 5 regions this week.
In a weather forecast on Tuesday, May 27, the Met Department said the rains are expected in the Central Highlands, which includes Nairobi, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coast, and Western Kenya.
The Met Department also noted that daytime temperatures above 30°C will be experienced in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya regions of Kenya, while parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and the area around Mt. Kilimanjaro would experience night-time temperatures of below 10°C.
“Rainfall is expected to continue across parts of the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, Coast, and Western Kenya. Daytime temperatures above 30°C are likely over much of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.
“Night-time temperatures may fall below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift Valley, and the area around Mt. Kilimanjaro,” the weather update read in part.

The weatherman also warned of strong winds of more than 25 knots (12.86 m/s) in the Coast, South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya regions.
“Strong winds from the south to southeast (>25 knots / 12.86 m/s) are expected over the Coast (including Kenya’s territorial waters), South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya,” the Met Department added.
The warning comes after four boats capsized in Lamu and Kilifi counties, prompting a multi-agency rescue operation involving the Kenya Red Cross, Kenya Maritime Authority, Coast Guard, and Beach Management Units (BMUs).
