Former Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has resigned as the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

Former Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has resigned as the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

Boinnet announced that he will be vying for the Elgeyo Marakwet Governor's seat in the August election. 

“Today’s appearance in Parliament marks the end of my duty as a CAS because immediately after this I am going to tender my resignation because I intend to vie for Elgeyo Marakwet’s gubernatorial seat,” Boinnet stated. 

He was appointed as Tourism CAS in March 2019 by President Uhuru Kenyatta after his term as IG ended. 

The Head of State would then nominated Hillary Mutyambai as the new Inspector General of Police replacing Boinnet.

Joseph Boinett was appointed as the new IG of police replacing David Kimaiyo in 2014. 

Mr Boinett is a career policeman who joined the intelligence service in 1998 and has two Master's degrees, one in security management and another in diplomacy and has just completed a course in Security Policy Analysis from Australia.
