Gachagua and Kalonzo are currently working on a deal to form an alliance that will challenge Ruto in 2027.

Professor Makau Mutua has opined that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will soon fall out politically.

Mutua, in a statement on Friday, May 30, claimed that Gachagua was only using Kalonzo to fight President William Ruto.

The professor who was recently appointed as an adviser to Ruto added that the unity between the two leaders had been staged.

Therefore, he predicted that Kalonzo would soon call out Gachagua for his plans and go their separate ways.

"Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka and ex-DP Rigathi will soon fall out in spite of their staged shows of unity," he wrote on his X page.

"Mr Gachagua wants to subordinate Mr Musyoka to him and misuse him in his war against President William Ruto. Mr Musyoka knows this and will call Mr Gachagua’s bluff soon."

Gachagua and Kalonzo are currently working on a deal to form an alliance that will challenge Ruto in 2027.

While hosting opposition leaders at his Tseikuru home in Kitui County on Thursday, Kalonzo announced that they would soon unveil the alliance of the opposition leaders.

As detailed by the leaders, the opposition will only field one candidate in a move that will guarantee them a win in the polls.

“We have consulted with Kalonzo Musyoka and other leaders and agreed we must unite behind one presidential candidate. We urge Kenyans to be patient as we build consensus,” Gachagua stated.

"We have our teams working, and very soon we are going to announce the name and the formation of our winning coalition. Leave alone that one for 2002," Kalonzo added.
