Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has issued a public notice announcing its intention to dispose of 124 unclaimed bodies currently held at its Farewell Home.
In the notice, the hospital is appealing to members of the public to help in identifying and collecting the bodies.
The hospital has given a seven-day deadline for families or representatives to claim the remains before it seeks court authorization for disposal.
"Kenyatta National Hospital is in possession of a number of unclaimed bodies at its Farewell Home.
"Interested members of the public are therefore requested to identify and collect the bodies within 7 days, failure to which the hospital will seek authority from the courts to dispose of them," the notice read.

The list includes deceased persons of various ages and genders, including infants and adults, some of whom have been in the mortuary for extended periods without identification or claim.
According to the Public Health Act (Cap 242) that governs the disposal of unclaimed bodies, no body can remain in a mortuary for more than 10 days without being claimed.
If a body remains unclaimed for 21 days, authorities must seek a court order for disposal after issuing a 14-day public notice to locate next of kin.
Unclaimed bodies are typically buried in public cemeteries or mass graves, often without rites, to manage space in mortuaries.
