The arrests followed a tip-off from members of the public.

Four male suspects were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, June 4, after police intercepted a vehicle in which one of the occupants was seen brandishing what appeared to be a firearm.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), the incident occurred at approximately 1:25 AM along Kenyatta Avenue when officers on night patrol responded to a tip-off.

“The intervention followed a tip-off from members of the public, who had observed one of the individuals brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, arousing suspicion,” NPS said in a statement.

The officers stopped the vehicle at a petrol station and conducted a thorough search of both the vehicle and its occupants.

During the search, law enforcement officers made a startling discovery.

“Upon searching the vehicle and its occupants, officers recovered a plastic revolver, six rubber bullets, and a knife marked 'AK47',” the police statement said.
