Moi University has announced the auction of cattle, dogs, and donkeys, among other assorted items.

In the notice dated Monday, June 16, the institution of higher learning listed 4 male and female German Shepherd dogs for sale at a reserved price of Ksh40,000 each.

The university will also be selling 10 donkeys with the reserved price set between Ksh6,000 and Ksh15,000.

10 pigs will also be sold during the auction set for Thursday, June 24. The prices of the pigs range between Ksh3,500 and Ksh7,000.

Moi University is also seeking to make money through the sale of 19 bulls and bull calves.

The most expensive bull will be sold for Ksh70,000, while the cheapest bull calf will be sold at Ksh7,000.

Equally, a Toyota Hilux was also listed for auction at a reserved price of Ksh350,000.

"Viewing can be done on 20th and 23rd June, 4.00 P.M. at the point of storage. All interested bidders are required to obtain a refundable bid number by way of cash of Ksh20,000.00 to be allowed to bid for motor vehicles and other items Ksh2,000," read the notice in part.

"The bidding amount of the successful bidder shall be retained as a deposit. The highest bidder shall be required to pay the auction amount; failure to which, the deposit shall be forfeited. The highest bidder shall be declared the purchaser."

Moi University is seeking to raise funds to finance its operations. The university has been facing financial difficulties, a move that has resulted in managerial changes.

According to a report by the Controller of Budget, Moi University has pending bills of Ksh6.2 billion.
